{"id":318,"date":"2021-01-31T10:57:16","date_gmt":"2021-01-31T10:57:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifeofdata.org\/?p=318"},"modified":"2021-12-08T13:16:03","modified_gmt":"2021-12-08T13:16:03","slug":"living-with-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifeofdata.org\/site\/living-with-data\/","title":{"rendered":"Living with Data"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I am currently co-investigator on the Nuffield Foundation funded project &#8216;Living with Data&#8217; led by Prof. Helen Kennedy, which runs from September 2019 to December 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working with team members Susan Oman and Itzelle Medina Perea, we have adapted my <a href=\"https:\/\/lifeofdata.org?p=343\">Data Journeys approach<\/a> to capture and map the data practices within a number of existing and proposed projects at the BBC and Department for Work and Pensions. Team member Lulu Pinney then created visualisations of what we found. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our findings and the visuals were then fed into the next stages of the project, a survey and focus groups\/interviews with members of the public about their thoughts and feelings regarding such data practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read more at the <a href=\"https:\/\/livingwithdata.org\/current-research\/\">Living with Data project website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will be writing up our findings over the coming months, in the meantime check out this report reviewing the literature in this field:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Kennedy H, Oman S, Taylor M, Bates J and Steedman R (2020) Public understanding and perceptions of data practices: a review of existing research.
