What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use the privacy preserving Matomo analytics to track number of users to the website. Matomo is configured to:

  • anonymise vistors’ IP addresses to two bytes e.g. 192.168.xxx.xxx
  • use anonymised IP to enrich visits
  • force tracking without cookies
  • pseudonomise userID
  • not record the referer url – only detect the type of referrer

You can opt out of Matomo tracking here:

You may choose to prevent this website from aggregating and analyzing the actions you take here. Doing so will protect your privacy, but will also prevent the owner from learning from your actions and creating a better experience for you and other users.

Due to some issues with Matomo Analytics, we have also set up Google Analytics on pages where we are distributing our findings. This allows us to keep track of number of reads of the home page, blog posts and downloads of reports.
